About This Event

“When you don’t escape, when you are completely motionless in front of suffering, you will see out of this suffering comes compassion and love. Compassion means passion for everything, not just for human beings – passion for the hills, the trees, the animals. That compassion is the very denial of the ‘me’.”
– J. Krishnamurti

In this weekend dialogue retreat we will explore the beauty and the power of compassion. According to Krishnamurti, compassion is a state that emerges when one is completely with suffering, one’s own or others. When we allow ourselves to be with “what is,” out of that may come the balm for all wounds that is the energy of compassion. Compassion is really the only non-delusional response to life, with all its miseries and challenges. Together we will explore both what compassion is not, as well as what it may be, so that we can direct our inner compass more readily towards a deeply meaningful existence. Krishnamurti invites each one of us to truly face and go into our suffering, loneliness, and confusion, so that we may come upon that thing that is the very essence of a well-lived life, compassion.

Please join us at the beautiful Krishnamurti Center in the Ojai Valley, for conversation, inner exploration, and meaningful discussion. The schedule will consist of watching or listening to Krishnamurti’s profound teachings, shared dialogue, as well as space for quiet reflection. Delicious vegetarian meals will be provided. Accommodations are limited so please reserve your room soon.
