About This Event

“Yoga means skill in action, not merely the practice of certain exercises which are necessary to keep the body healthy, strong, sensitive… Skill in action demands great sensitivity of the body, a lightness of the body…” -- Flight of the Eagle Chapter 3, London 4th Public Talk 23rd (March 1969).

“We may have plenty of knowledge of books, but very few have direct experience of anything.” – J. Krishnamurti

In this retreat, you’ll have the opportunity to fully engage in yoga and inquiry in a reflective, open, and sharing atmosphere. You’ll explore the relationship of physical movement (Yoga asana) and breath while bringing attention to the subtle movements of your body, breath, and mind. When the body is tuned into, there is a quality of awareness and attentiveness that comes forward. This kind of attention can bring about a unique sense of openness and connection to oneself and others. In addition to Yoga classes, we’ll listen to audios and watch videos on subjects such as relationship, self-knowledge, and meditation and have group discussions afterward.

Facilitator Francesca Michelle Gold (she/her) has had deep and lifelong contact with the work of J. Krishnamurti. She lived at the Krishnamurti Foundation in Ojai for a year in 2012 as part of a residential program and she has also visited five of the Krishnamurti retreat centers and schools in India. Francesca has been teaching Yoga and embodiment practices for 15 years and has facilitated retreats at the KFA for over a decade. She holds a Master of Arts in Yoga Studies and a Yoga Therapy certification through Loyola Marymount University; her advanced teaching certification is through the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy. Her teaching style is methodical, intuitive, and somatic in nature. Expect to be pointed inward again and again towards practices rooted in direct observation, compassion, and meditation. She was voted best Yoga teacher in Ojai in 2022 and 2023, owns a Yoga studio called Breathe Ojai, and sees clients through her private yoga therapy practice.
