What goes through your mind when you read the above quote?

My first reaction was to think how incredibly true those words were. It seems revolutionary to accept that we are nothing and goes against the whole ethos of most modern societies where struggling to be something is where all our energy goes.

The quote certainly gives us something very profound to contemplate at the end of 2018 (for those of us who use the Gregorian Calendar). Thanks for posting the quote Jack and best wishes to you all for 2019!

New years are religious ceremonies therefore meaningless . Christians have their new year, Jews have their own and muslems and chinees and persians have their own new years based on their religious beliefs.

Well, K. was gentleman enough to respect some custom, which in this case is not a religious ceremony at all, as you say. I wish you all a Happy New Year too.

Is it not interesting that Krishnamurti said I forgot it is new year.:-) That means he didn't think that it was of any importance..

No, it's not interesting and it's irrelevant to anything important.

Yes, I called you a well deserved name. You have worked for it, you have earned it a hundred times over and I would be remiss if I didn't award it to you.
