On Love, Compassion and Inner Revolution
An Intensive weekend Retreat 5 - 7 May, 2017 at the Riversong Retreat, Switzerland
“Love alone can bring about a radical revolution or transformation in relationship; and love is not a thing of the mind...” - J. Krishnamurti - Commentaries On Living, Series II
With the total negation of everything that is not love, comes love, says J. Krishnamurti.
It seems so clear that the world, the society, we have created through our day to day living is based on everything else apart from love and compassion. It is based on pleasure, on pain, on ruthless competitiveness, on divisions and wars.
How can we know that pure flame of love if our minds and hearts are filled with the smoke of comparison, jealousy, envy, attachment, and self-fulfilment? We talk so much about love but do we really know what love is, from the core of our being, as a living actuality? And without that pure flame of love, our daily life has so little meaning.
And it seems that a true revolution can only happen from the ground of love and compassion. This is the central theme of our gathering: to deeply inquire into this fundamental question of love, compassion and an inner revolution. The challenge for all of us is to come together as beginners and friends in this inquiry which is not dependent on any authority.
Since all our knowledge about love is not love, we need to begin afresh by acknowledging this simple fact in our hearts that we don’t know what love is. We intend to explore the questions not only in dialogues, but by sharing our daily living, our work, our learning and silence together.
The venue of this gathering is a small beautiful village in the alps of Switzerland, about two hours from Geneva International airport. The day will consist of introductory talks, existential dialogues, shared inquiry into self-knowing, experiment with silent observation and listening, Krishnamurti video talks, long walks in nature and meditation.
The primary intention is that our entire day becomes a meditative process by taking a complete break from our daily mechanical way of living and allowing our minds and hearts to deeply rest, rejuvenate, reflect, observe, and listen...

“In this torn desert world there is no love because pleasure and desire play the greatest roles, yet without love your daily life has no meaning...when there is love and beauty, whatever you do is right, whatever you do is in order."
